Principal's Speech, Second Semester-End Ceremony, March 24, 2017

Principal’s Speech at Ceremony Marking the End of the Second-Semester    March 24th, 2017

Good afternoon, students. The entire academic year is now coming to an important moment. I know that all of you have developed so much and so well, both physically and spiritually. It is wonderful that everyone here has changed and grown steadily since the year began a short 12 months ago.
When it comes to the finer details of how you spent the whole year, you need to reflect on how much you have learned and how you have spent your lives at school. My advice is that you look back on your daily lives and form a clear vision for the future. Before you know it, you will advance to the next stage in your school life.
I am so pleased that we are filled with innumerable great memories to share, concerning all that happened during the 2016 academic year. Let me list just a few ? Sports Day on April 29; international exchanges in June; school trips to Oze, Okinawa, Kyoto and Nara, and America in the middle of the year; the work experience program and the Road Race in November, and then the Yokoso Sempai Program in late January enabled us to observe a full-scale model of the space probe AKATSUKI. It was an amazing construction, built by GKA student volunteers, collaborating with parents and teachers. In March we successfully conducted our Science Fair and Film Festival. I look on all these events held outside the classroom as significant from an educational perspective.
Needless to say, daily lessons rank first as our top priority. All of you tried hard and did your very best. At the same time, I was most impressed by the students who did well, not only in academic pursuits, but also on the athletic field away from their studies. It has been a great pleasure and honor for me to award certificates of merit to all those students who displayed great skills in sport and in other areas.
On March 2nd we once again conducted a dignified and memorable graduation ceremony. All the students in the graduating class have left the campus. At this time of the year, we have less than two weeks before we start again on April 6th, with the full number of students in each grade.
I would like to conclude by expressing full confidence that you will make every effort to continually develop all of your varied and wonderful potentials in the coming academic year. Good luck to you. Have a happy spring holiday, and let’s see every one of you right here in the school gym on April 6th ? bright and smiling in anticipation of another tremendous year. Thank you for your kind attention.
