Principal's Speech, Second Semester-End Ceremony, March 23, 2018

Second Semester-end Ceremony, Principal’s Speech
 March 23, 2018
Good afternoon, dear students. On this occasion of the whole school assembly, I would like to say a few words to all of you. Everyone here has grown and matured since the 2017 academic year began one year ago. Whether you know it or not, I can tell that you’ve developed a lot, both physically and mentally.
I would like each of you to reflect on how you have spent the last twelve months.  Why don’t you examine what you have done so far, before taking the next step forward into the new academic year? It is worth looking back on yourselves in order to form a perspective for your future before you advance to the next stage in your school life.
Reviewing the academic year 2017, we have many fond memories that deserve cherishing. On March 2nd, we held our fifth graduation ceremony in a way that was dignified, warm-hearted, and touching. The school festival, held last September 23rd, was a terrific success thanks to your great effort and energetic attitude. I was really amazed at the earnest commitment and energy that all of you put into this wonderful event.
Today, I would like to introduce an inspiring phrase by a French novelist, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, author of the ‘Little Prince.’ He once said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” This phrase implies that you need to have a concrete idea if you really want to make your dreams come true. Please, not pursue vague or ambiguous ideas. Be specific!
In the field of business, they have what we call the PDCA Cycle or Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle. That’s an interactive four-step management method for the control and continual improvement of processes and products. I wonder if you can apply this PDCA Cycle for managing your lives. You need careful observation and reflection on your daily life and dreams. The key to success depends on your skill in reflection and critical thinking. Plan-Do-Check-Act. When you plan, you must avoid any ambiguous ideas. All you need are concrete and specific actions in designing your own future.
I would like to conclude by expressing my full confidence that you will make every effort to continually develop all your possibilities in the coming academic year. Good luck to each and every one of you. Have a pleasant spring vacation. While relaxing and enjoying yourselves, look forward to returning to school and again seeing your friends and teachers for a fresh start for the new academic year. This concludes my speech. Thank you for your kind attention.
