G5 – Hebigawa Observation

G5 – 蛇川の観察

5年生の理科では、川についての学習を行い、川の流れる速さと侵食の関係について学んでいます。子どもたちの理解を深めるため、近くの蛇川まで歩いて行き、川の様子を観察しました。

児童たちは川のスケッチを描き、流れの速い場所と遅い場所を探しました。川を観察して、堆積物が堆積している場所と、侵食されている場所をみつけました。

校舎が川のすぐ隣に位置しているため、子どもたちは川の様子を直接観察する貴重な機会を得られました。5年生たちはこの見学を楽しみ、貴重なデータを収集して戻ってきたようです。

G5 – Hebigawa Observation

In science class, Grade 5 students are studying rivers, and the relationship between river speed and soil erosion.  To help them understand, we walked to the nearby Snake River (Hebigawa) to observe the river conditions.

Students made a sketch of the river and looked for areas with faster and slower river current.  They identified where the river sediment was accumulating and where it was being eroded away.

We are fortunate that our school is located directly across the river so students could take this opportunity to observe directly.  It seems that Grade 5 enjoyed the excursion, and brought back some valuable data.
