音楽発表会 Music Presentation Day

日本の公立学校と比べると、音楽科の授業もGKAの大きな特徴の一つとなっています。GKAの音楽科では、「Jump Right In」というカリキュラムを採用して音楽を教えています。「Jump Right In」は音楽学習理論の原則に基づいて開発されたプログラムです。

音楽学習理論は「オーディエーション」、すなわち心の中で音楽を聴き理解する能力を中核としています。オーディエーションに基づく音楽授業では、児童は音楽を聴き、それに合わせて体を動かし、声や楽器で演奏します。また、即興演奏や自分で音楽を創作するスキルを身につけていきます。

ご覧の写真と動画は、今年の音楽発表会での様子です。学級閉鎖になってしまったクラスもありますが、全学年の児童が、音楽の学習成果を保護者やクラスメイトに披露する機会となりました。子どもたちは発表会で表現できることに意欲的に取り組み、即興ソロ演奏を自ら進んで演奏する児童もいました。お楽しみください。

One major difference between GKA and a typical Japanese public school is the way that our students are taught music. Music classes at GKA teach music through a curriculum named “Jump Right In”. “Jump Right In” is developed following the principles of Music Learning Theory. 

Music Learning Theory is centered around the idea of “audiation”, or the ability to hear and comprehend music in one’s mind. In an audiation based music lesson, students listen and move to music and perform with their voices and instruments. Students also develop the skills to improvise and compose music of their own. 

The photos and videos you see are from this year’s Music Presentation Day.  Except for the classes affected by class closure, students in all grades had a chance to show their developing music skills to their parents and classmates. Students were very excited to showcase their performance skills during Music Presentation Day, and some students volunteered to perform improvised solos. Please enjoy the performance!
