A Typical Day in The Elementary School

Every morning, students come to school slightly earlier than required, in order to work on puzzles, complete assignments, or prepare for lessons.
After going over the day’s activities in morning homeroom, students begin their first lesson. GKA students are expected to act on their own initiative, rather than just wait for instructions. One example of this is that there are no bells at GKA. Students in the playground are expected to keep an eye on the clock, and return to their classrooms at the proper time without being instructed to do so. Having the students manage their own daily schedules encourages them to be independent, and helps them develop self-management skills, laying the foundation they need to think and act on their own.

Students attend six classes a day. On Wednesdays, Grades 3 to 6 hold 7 th period classes.
Band members practice after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
