G5 – Akagi Overnight Camp

先週、５年生たちは、赤城少年自然の家で２泊３日の宿泊学習を行いました。自然に親しむことと、自立心を養うこと、そして友達と協力することが目的です。

大沼にて４０人乗りのカッターを漕いだり、キャンプファイヤーの周りで歌ったり、踊ったり、焚火でカレー作りをしたりしました。

２日目にはあいにくの雨となってしまいましたが、すべての活動を経験することができました。夜には大部屋にふとんを敷き、眠りました。子どもたち自身のチームワーク、施設の方々や引率教員たちの助言により、皆良い時間を過ごすことができ、金曜日の午後には学校まで戻ってくることができました。

Last week, Grade 5 went to the Mt. Akagi Youth Nature Center for three days and two nights.  The goals of the trip were to learn more about nature, to become more independent, and to work together in harmony with classmates.

Some highlights of the trip included rowing on Lake Onuma in large 40-seat ‘cutter’ boats, dancing and singing by a large bonfire, and making curry over a wood campfire.

Despite the rain falling all day on the 2nd day of camp, students were able to experience all of these activities.  At night, they slept in large rooms using traditional futon bedding.  Thanks to the teamwork of students, and the advisement of the Youth Nature Center staff and supervising teachers, everyone had a great time and boarded the bus back to GKA tired but happy on Friday afternoon.
