High School Student Volunteer Activity at GKA Pre-School (CAS)
At Gunma Kokusai Academy Pre-School, we place great importance on nurturing children’s natural curiosity throughout their developmental stages. We hope that children come to feel that “learning is fun.” To support this, our daily activities are centered around play, helping to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Through songs and games, children are naturally exposed to English and learn experientially while enjoying themselves.
We look forward to many of the children participating in the Pre-School this year gaining rich and meaningful experiences.
At our Pre-School, high school students also take part as volunteers. Some of them expressed a desire to volunteer as part of their CAS (https://ibo.org/programmes/diploma-programme/curriculum/dp-core/creativity-activity-and-service/) experiences. From the very first day, they demonstrated thoughtful reflection—for example, noticing how teachers used emotional language such as “sad” instead of “troubled” when addressing issues, or how they communicated in a way that reached both children and their parents. These observations reflect a growing awareness of warm and empathetic communication, as well as a strong willingness to learn from the experience.
Each of these insights and experiences contributes to the students’ personal growth. We believe that the process of engaging with children—thinking deeply, making adjustments, and sometimes learning through mistakes—is itself an invaluable form of learning.
We look forward to seeing our students continue to grow together with the children and teachers, learning from and supporting one another within the warm environment of the Pre-School.
