Grade 6: Cooking Yakisoba in Home Economics Class

Grade 6 家庭科 Home Economics

初等部の高学年は家庭科の授業があり、調理実習や裁縫を行います。6年生たちは、炒め物の授業で焼きそばを調理しました。

エプロンを着て髪の毛を抑えるように三角巾をつけ、調理室で適切な量の材料をはかったり切ったりしている様子です。もちろん最後には自分たちで作った焼きそばを食べます。とてもがんばった様子が子どもたちの笑顔からも伝わるのではないでしょうか。今回の経験から料理することへの興味や自信が高まるといいですね。

Upper elementary students at GKA take a class in Home Economics, and practice useful life skills such as cooking and sewing.  The Grade 6 students recently had a chance to cook yakisoba noodles as part of their class.  

Wearing their aprons and covering their hair with handkerchiefs, the students measured and cut their ingredients, and used the kitchen ranges from the home economics lab to cook the yakisoba.  The final step of the class was to taste the food that they had prepared.  Judging by the smiling students, they seem to have done a great job.  Hopefully, they have gained confidence and have developed interest in cooking for themselves.
