G2 & G5 – Tanabata (Class Buddies)

GKA初等部の校舎が、なぜこのような学年の組み合わせで分かれているかご存知ですか？

実は、これにはとても素敵な理由があるんです！各ハウスは、異なる学年が自然に交流できるようデザインされています。

赤城ハウス： 1年生＆ 4年生
榛名ハウス： 2年生＆ 5年生
妙義ハウス： 3年生＆ 6年生

この実践を支えているのが、GKA独自の「クラス・バディ（Class Buddies）」です！3歳年上の頼れるお兄さん・お姉さんとペアになることで、下級生は学校生活の心強い味方やお手本（メンター）を得ることができます。

学年が上がっても、このバディ学年の組み合わせは変わりません。下級生だった子どもたちも、4年生になると今度は自分がリードする側（上級生）となり、やがて7年生（中等部）へと羽ばたいていきます。下級生はGKAコミュニティの一員としての姿勢を学び、上級生はリーダーシップや思いやりの心を育む素晴らしい機会となっています。

写真は、七夕に向けた活動の様子です！5年生のバディが2年生に優しく寄り添い、短冊の飾り付けや笹への結び方を教えてあげています。

下級生の素晴らしいガイドになれるよう、5年生も一生懸命がんばっています！

Have you ever wondered why the GKA Elementary campus is mixed the way it is? It’s not random—it’s all by design! Our houses are split to bring different age groups together:

Akagi House: Grade 1 & Grade 4
Haruna House: Grade 2 & Grade 5
Myogi House: Grade 3 & Grade 6

This setup powers our wonderful “Class Buddies” system! By pairing lower elementary students with buddies who are three years older, our younger students gain built-in mentors and friends who know the ropes at GKA.

As our students grow, their buddy grade stays the same. Eventually, today’s younger buddies will step up to become the leaders in Grade 4, before moving on to junior high in Grade 7. Through this bond, younger students learn how to thrive in the GKA community, while our upperclassmen practice vital leadership and empathy skills.

Today’s Spotlight: Check out these heartwarming photos of our Grade 5 students guiding their Grade 2 buddies! They worked together to decorate TANZAKU (wish cards) and hung them on the bamboo branches for Tanabata.
