G8-農業の未来をデザインする ― Technology × People × Sustainability

Grade 8では、「持続可能な農業」をテーマに、環境・社会・経済がどのように関わり合いながら農業を支えているのかを学んでいます。
今回、その学びを実際の農業現場で深めるため、2026年9月3日（木）群馬県昭和村で任意参加の産地見学を実施しました。今回は、パルシステム、株式会社野菜くらぶ、株式会社モスファーム サングレイス 群馬農場の皆様にご協力いただき、参加した生徒と保護者が、普段の授業では見ることのできない農業の現場を体験しました。

ICTを活用した農業
サングレイス群馬農場では、ハウス内の環境をデータで管理し、スマートフォンから必要な作業を指示できる仕組みについて説明していただきました。
例えば、「CO₂濃度を上げるために外気を取り入れる」「光が当たりすぎるためカーテンを閉める」といった判断を、ハウス内のデータを分析しながら行っています。
生徒たちは、農業が経験や勘だけに頼るものではなく、データやICTを活用することで、作物にとってよりよい環境をつくりながら、効率的で持続可能な生産を実現していることを学びました。

「人」の視点から農業を考える
株式会社野菜くらぶの皆様からは、農業を支える「人」についてもお話を伺いました。
隙間時間を活用して農作業のアルバイトができる仕組みや、外国人労働者と地域・農家が共に働くための取り組みなど、農業の人手不足という課題に対するさまざまな工夫を紹介していただきました。
また、農家の方々との交流を通して、農業を「遠い世界の仕事」ではなく、自分たちの生活とつながる身近な仕事として捉えるきっかけにもなりました。

実際に農作業と収穫を体験
見学だけでなく、参加者は実際に農作業や収穫も体験しました。
土や作物に直接触れ、自分たちの手で野菜を収穫することで、普段何気なく食べている野菜が、どのような環境で、どのような人々の手によって育てられているのかを実感することができました。
「持続可能な農業」という言葉を、教室で学ぶだけではなく、人・技術・環境・地域・食がつながる現場として体験できたことは、生徒たちにとって貴重な学びとなりました。
今回の産地見学で得た気づきを、今後のG8のユニットでの課題発見やデザイン提案につなげていきます。

In Grade 8, students are exploring the theme of sustainable agriculture, learning how environmental, social, and economic factors are interconnected and contribute to the sustainability of agriculture.
To deepen this learning through first-hand experience, we visited agricultural production sites in Showa Village, Gunma Prefecture, on Thursday, September 3, 2026. With the generous cooperation of Pal System, Vegetable Club Co., Ltd., and Mos Farm SungRace Gunma Farm, participating students and their parents had the opportunity to experience aspects of agriculture that cannot be fully understood through classroom learning alone.

Agriculture Powered by ICT
At Mos Farm SungRace Gunma Farm, students learned about a system that uses data to monitor greenhouse conditions and enables necessary work instructions to be managed through smartphones.
For example, farmers can analyze data from inside the greenhouse and make decisions such as bringing in outside air to increase CO₂ levels or closing the curtains when there is too much sunlight.
Through this experience, students learned that modern agriculture is not based solely on experience and intuition. Instead, data and ICT can be used to create optimal growing conditions for crops while achieving efficient and sustainable production.

Understanding Agriculture from the Perspective of People
The team at Vegetable Club Co., Ltd. also introduced students to the important role of people in supporting agriculture.
Students learned about various approaches to addressing labor shortages in agriculture, including systems that allow people to work in farming during their spare time, as well as initiatives that support coexistence and collaboration between foreign workers, local communities, and farmers.
Through conversations with farmers and agricultural workers, students also had the opportunity to see agriculture not as a “distant” or unfamiliar industry, but as an important part of everyday life that is closely connected to their own lives and communities.

Experiencing Farming and Harvesting First-hand
In addition to visiting the production sites, participants had the opportunity to take part in farming activities and harvest vegetables themselves.
By directly touching the soil and crops and harvesting vegetables with their own hands, students were able to experience where the food they eat every day comes from and understand the environments and people involved in producing it.
Rather than simply learning about the concept of “sustainable agriculture” in the classroom, students were able to experience it as a real-world system in which people, technology, the environment, communities, and food are all interconnected.
The insights and questions gained through this field trip will be carried forward into the Grade 8 Design unit, where students will identify challenges related to sustainable agriculture and develop their own design proposals.
